PALESTINIANS AND ISRAELIS HAVE A HUMAN RIGHT TO PEACE, AS EVERYONE !

The Universal Declaration of Human rights, article 28, states :
“Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized”.

Numerous other texts grant to the people, individually and collectively, the right to live in peace.

Any situation of violence and armed conflict will violate or threaten the full realization of all human rights, but for the better it is through peace that dialogue, construction or reconstruction of lively human societies can best take place, for the good of each and all.

Therefore we hereby recall that each and every individual has the right to live in peace and the right to be given the necessary means to see peace respected and conflicts solved without further violence.

In this respect, it must also be recalled that the right to self-defense must be used proportionally and that further, it does not allow for any violation of human rights or humanitarian law.

We call upon all persons and upon all public and political institutions – it is the duty of the Security Council of the United Nations to restore peace – to recognize and fully respect this right : the human right to peace.
